Fashola inspects long bridge portion of Lagos-Ibadan expressway

This assurance was given by the minister for power, works and housing Babatunde Fashola SAN has he inspected the road Monday.

Joke Lijadu was there and reports that the 4500m long bridge road had been under construction since late August and was billed for completion by the 31st of December according to the contractor Julius Berger.

The Minister noted that the contractors have now completed the 1st phase of the project which involved the removal of the existing asphalt and replacement with polymer asphalt .

Fashola lauded the efforts of the contractor in completing the project before the yuletide in order to ease movement during the celebrations.

Motorists and commuters in the area noted that the completion of the road will help ease the gridlock that has characterised the axis in recent times, they called for speed in the completion of the 2nd phase

Meanwhile the Minister warned motorists to desist from unwholesome acts of overspeeding and drinking while driving during the yuletide.

The 2nd phase of the project which involves the replacement of some joints on the long bridge will take off next year.
