Federal Government has pledged to provide all that is needed to ensure the completion of the Power plant Project at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.
Minister of State for Power, Jeddy Agba said this when he inspected the project to ascertain the level of progress.
Obafemi Awolowo University currently utilises six megawatts of electricity.
It pays between thirty-five and sixty- five million naira as electricity bill every month.
This is the reason the University embarked on the project for power generation independent of the National grid.
But funding has been a major hindrance to its completion.
The minister, Jeddy Agba has promised to ensure timely completion of the project. According to him, the Projects were being carried out in at least one federal University in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The project which will generate 8.03 megawatts when completed will also serve the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
