The increasing rate of tuberculosis infection among the vulnerable population in the northeast region of Nigeria, is now cause for growing concern to experts in the health sector.
They want government and other relevant authorities to prioritise the healthcare of this group that is most susceptible to communicable diseases, especially tuberculosis.
Latest data released by Janna Health Foundation shows that the people mostly vulnerable to the disease are Nomads, Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, inmates of correctional facilities, and children who live among People Living with TB.
The National Coordinator and Director Public Health, Tuberculosis , Stella Ekeh commend partners in the health sector working to slow down infection rates and eradicate the disease, she says the government will also continue to play its own part in ensuring access to affordable healthcare for its citizens.
