Residents of Umuigbo-Agbor of Nkanu West council area in Enugu state are seeking the state Government’s intervention to mediate and reverse an illegal occupation and conversation of their ancestral land by council Chairman.

The indigenous people of the community demonstrated same in a protest, chanting war songs, bearing placards with different inscriptions, calling for reversal of council chairman’s decision

They condemned the council’s alleged forceful occupation of their ancestral land, describing it as an attempt to relocate them off their father’s property.

Responding, the President-General of Umuigbo Amurri, Sabastine Okoh and Financial secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing worldwide, Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa believe that such action is an attempt to take over their ancestral land, while seeking the quick intervention of the state governor to prevent violent attack.

The community leaders revealed that the community, had earlier resolved to assign over 200 acres of land to the local government for the proposed state Smart farming settlement initiative.
