The Chief Justice of the Federation, Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, led eminent Nigerians at a service of songs for the late Zeporah Galumje, wife of retired Supreme Court Justice Paul Adamu Galumje and Commissioner representing the Judiciary in the Police Service Commission.

The ceremony was held on Saturday, 14 June 2025, at the Christian Reformed Church in Apo, Abuja.

Justice Kekere-Ekun was accompanied by her husband, Prince Akin, and several Supreme Court Justices, including Festus Ogbunyia, Helen Ogunwumiju and Stephen Jonah Adah. The Police Service Commission delegation was led by Justice Christy Lara Dabup (rtd), a colleague of Justice Galumje.

During the service, Justice Galumje described his marriage to Zeporah, whom he wed on 30 July 1977, as a peaceful and loving union. He said their marriage remained strong until her death on 4 June 2025, adding that her ability to stay calm and not respond in anger kept their marriage united.

He expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending condolences and sending his Vice President to visit him at home. “From a remote village in Taraba to where I am today, it can only be God’s grace,” the retired justice said.

Rev. Dr. Mark Ato Yohanna delivered the exhortation at the service, while Rev. Daniel Eska-Uten Yohanna, chairman of the Christian Reformed Church, prayed for the family.

The first scripture reading was presented by Bar Emocha Paul Galumje, son of the deceased, while Emoseh Paul Galumje, her daughter, delivered the second reading.

The body of Zeporah Galumje will depart Abuja on Thursday, 19 June 2025, for Jalingo, Taraba state, where a wake will be held at 2 Justice Paul Galumje Street.

A Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship meeting will follow on 20 June. Later that day, her body will lie in state at her husband’s residence in Jalingo, and on Saturday, 21 June, it will be taken to Didan for the funeral service and interment.

Dignitaries present at the service of songs included Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, Elder Obada Ando, Elder Seth Ika’a, Elder Usman Kaigama, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Lawal N. Akirikwen, Lawal Rabana (SAN), D.D. Dodo (SAN), Emman Bala and Willy Ashigye. Also present were AIG H. Karma (rtd), Justice Josephine Tuturu, Hon. Sam Ada, Mr and Mrs Davies Dada, Hon. Danjuma Shidi and Mr Kifas Danladi.

Mrs Zeporah Galumje was born in 1958 and died on 4 June 2025.
