Electricity controversy: ‘Govt will not fund, because some people use power without paying’ – Salako
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

TVC N. President, consumer advocacy foundation of Nigeria, Sola Salako said, most Nigerians don’t pay tax and as such the government will not fund the electricity they consume.

Sola went further to say some people use power without paying bills and that should be blocked else the government cannot fund or cover up for such people.

She said, a new electricity tariff regime with potentially grave cost implications for urban dwellers, the rich and commercial concerns commenced since July . The new tariff regime reduces the cost of electricity for rural consumers who do not use electronics or other heavy equipment.

However, the Federal Government said it was disbursing a N100 billion stabilization fund to subsidise the cost to be borne by consumers rated below the N24/Kwh cost of production over the next two years, at the rate of N50billion for 2012 and 2013 respectively.
