Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawallen has granted amnesty to 150 inmates at the Gusau Maximum Security Prison.
The Governor made this gesture during a prison visit, to give the released inmates the opportunity to celebrate Sallah with their loved ones.
Those granted amnesty include 5 lifers, 5 condemned to death ,30 convicts, 60 inmates awaiting trial, 9 nursing mothers and 41 with special considerations ranging from those who memorized the Holy Quran, those with deformities, the aged and those convicts who had spent more than 20 years in prison

The Governor urged the released persons to consider their trials and experiences as lessons in life which should be used to reform themselves to persons of good conduct and behaviour.
The Governor also donated 5 cows,100 Bags of assorted rice, 5 Rams, Drugs and other food ingredient to the remaining inmates to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir.
