Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah has called on Nigerians to be hopeful and remained steadfast in the face of many challenges facing the country.
The Bishop in an elaborate Easter message urged Nigerians to trust in God, saying the Risen Christ does not abandon his people.
He described Easter as the greatest event since the creation of the world, saying the event changed the world history and has never been repeated again.
He admitted that the times are hard and evil in Nigeria , with many security challenges bedevilling town and villages, tormenting ordinary citizens across the country.
He call on President Muhammadu Buhari to rise up to the challenged and rescue the nation from it’s many troubles that has left citizens frustrated and hopeless.
According to him, leadership is an exercise in problem solving therefore, the president should step up and offer solutions and not excuses.
He challenged other politicians to play politics with honour and dignity by showing respect to the electorates with selflessness that will inspire the younger generation.
Kukah also cautioned the leadership of the church in Nigeria to work harder and avoid compromises by applying the principle of the gospel to shape and direct the nation to the right path.
