Image result for Human Trafficking in Delta stateDelta state task force on Anti-Human Trafficking and Illegal migration has given a stern warning to perpetrators to desist or prepare to face the law.

The task force also wants those who fall victim of trafficking on guise of seeking greener pasture to be wise.

TVC Correspondent Ikenna Amechi  reports that statistics shows that Human trafficking involves the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain and is a $150 billion global industry.

According to the United Nations, the smuggling route from East, North and West Africa to Europe is said to generate such huge amount in annual profits. And statistics reveal that Delta State is ranked among 10 states in the country that provide more trafficked persons.

To reverse this trend the Anti-Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration task force, set up by the state government, launched its #NotForSale Campaign to enlighten vulnerable young people and partner with relevant stakeholders.

Research shows a low risk of arrest in most African countries for those involved in human trafficking. Perpetrators exploit weak legal process, coupled with corruption, to go unpunished.
