Delta govt concludes first phase of drug free campaign

The Delta State Government has concluded the first phase of its “Drug Free Delta” campaign, targeting secondary schools across the three senatorial districts.

The campaign, launched in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency aims to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.

First Lady of the state, Tobore Oborevwori, appealed to parents, teachers, and faith-based organisations to join forces with the state government to combat the menace.

The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Fred Oghenesivbe, noted that the campaign has reached 28 secondary schools and will expand to higher institutions in the second phase.

He also announced plans to introduce “Drug Integrity Test” for prospective students, emphasising the importance of academic focus and goal-oriented living.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including the State Commander of the NDLEA, Commander Abubakar Wada; the Commissioner of Police, Delta command Olufemi Abaniwonda and Royal Fathers.
