Nigeria’s Defence Space Administration has concluded training on satellite image analysis and mapping, for the purpose of combating insecurity in the country.
The authorities of the institution say the use of space technology would curb the menace of insecurity.
Defence Correspondent Sifon Essien reports that the Defence Space Administration was established to develop and operate military space technology as well as support the Nigerian Military operations and other law enforcement agencies through the use of satellite technology.
In a bid to keep up with its mandate, the institution regularly conducts training on the use of geospatial technology in fighting crime. This is one of such capacity development programmes.
For four weeks, 19 participants were trained on satellite image analysis and mapping for the purpose of combating insecurity in the country.
The knowledge gained would be deployed in gathering intelligence necessary for military and other law enforcement operations.
