Death toll in the Mokwa flood disaster has risen to 224 with over 500 persons missing.
This was disclosed by the District Head of Mokwa, Mohammed Shaba, while receiving a delegation from the Catholic Diocese of Minna who came to commiserate with the people.
The District Head, who is the Ndallele of Mokwa, revealed that despite the rising number of deaths, many more persons are still missing and unaccounted for.

Leader of the delegation, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Minna, Most Reverend Lukas Gopep said the global Catholic community stands in solidarity with the people of Mokwa, offering prayers and condolences to families who lost loved ones.
The delegation also presented food and non-food items to victims through the local council secretariat, as part of the Church’s humanitarian support.
As rescue and recovery efforts continue, the community remains hopeful that more missing persons will be found.
