Delivering the judgment on Friday, Justice Peter Lifu also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to supervise, monitor, or recognise the outcome of any convention held without the participation of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, as a candidate.

The court found that Lamido was unfairly denied the opportunity to obtain a nomination form to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship, a move deemed contrary to both the PDP Constitution and its internal regulations.

Justice Lifu emphasized that political parties have a duty to provide their members with genuine opportunities to serve, requiring deliberate measures to ensure aspirants can pursue their ambitions.
As a result, the court ordered that the PDP convention be put on hold to allow Lamido to obtain the nomination form, mobilize supporters, and conduct his campaign.
