Image result for Sowore in courtThe Federal high court Abuja has commenced sitting in the suit filed by Omoyele Sowore challenging his illegal detention by the Department of State Services.

Counsel to DSS said no order or summons was served on them for the Director General to appear before the court.
According to him, their appearance in court is as result of what they heard from the media and out of the respect the Service has for the court.

On 17th December, Justice Ahmed Mohammed had ordered the Attorney General of the Federation and the Director General of the SSS to appear before the court over the arrest and detention of Mr Sowore.

But Counsel to the AGF noted that a preliminary objection and counter affidavits has also been filed to regularize their processes and asking for a date to reply on points of law and prays the court for an adjournment.

In his response, Counsel to Mr Sowore said counsel to the AGF filed all his processes out of time and has not regularize his appearance before the court and is not entitled to an adjournment.

Also replying to the Counsel to the DSS, Mr Falana noted that the DSS has all the court processes contrary to the submission of the counsel.

The court is on short break as at the time of filing this report.
