The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, is currently in Kaduna to visit Tudun Biri village, where a Nigerian Army drone strike occurred on Sunday night during a gathering of villagers observing Maulud festivities.
On Monday, the Nigerian Army accepted responsibility for the drone strikes.
Major General VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army, explained that the Army was conducting a routine mission against terrorists but inadvertently affected members of the community.
A family member of one victim estimated that more than 85 people died at the scene.
Two blasts occurred on Sunday night, with the first claiming the lives of more women and children, and the second taking the lives of those attempting to rescue the injured victims.
The Deputy Chief Medical Director of Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital stated that 66 injured individuals were admitted, each with varying degrees of injuries, several of which are severe.
Ongoing assessments will determine the severity of some injuries, potentially leading to transfers to specialized hospital.
The Chief Of Army Staff, Taoredd Lagbaja, later visited the site where the slain victims were buried.
With his hat off he proposed a minute silence in honour of the slain victims.
District head of the community says over 80 persons were buried.
He further said the community is a mixed one including Muslims and Christians.
