Members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association are calling for a special intervention project to address needs of the country’s livestock industry.
This was part of the consensus reached at the group’s meeting in Abuja.
This group has denied being responsible for farmers herdsmen clashes in the country. It recently signed a peace accord with the all farmers’ association of Nigeria alongside traditional leaders from the south east.
The group now believes this has helped cut down on farmers’ and herdsmen clashes in the country.
The group feels the livestock industry has not been given adequate attention by the authorities.
The Association says it has started biometric data capturing that will serve as an early warning system mechanism for its members many of whom it believes have been victims of the farmers’ herdsmen clashes.
The cattle herdsmen group says it is in talks with local and international investors in value chain development and processing on ranching for the association’s benefit.
