The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has commenced a detailed review of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to parts of its digital infrastructure, assuring stakeholders that the situation is being contained.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the commission clarified that the breach was restricted in scope, affecting only “limited aspects” of its information systems.
“The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is currently reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to limited aspects of its information systems,” the statement reads.

Framing the incident as a test of its internal safeguards, the commission disclosed that it swiftly activated its incident response mechanisms upon detection, while collaborating with key regulatory and security bodies.

“CAC promptly activated its response protocols and is working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), relevant government agencies and partners to assess the scope and impact,” the commission added.
It further noted that containment steps have already been implemented, alongside the deployment of additional security layers aimed at reinforcing its systems against further vulnerabilities.
As investigations continue, CAC urged users of its portal to heighten vigilance, particularly by updating their login credentials and watching out for suspicious messages.
“Stakeholders are advised to monitor their records on the CAC portal, update login credentials, and remain cautious of unsolicited communications.”
Reaffirming its commitment to data integrity, the commission said it would keep the public informed as more details emerge from the ongoing probe.
