President Muhammadu Buhari says peace and development are complementary to each other and are are critical towards achieving overall development objective not just as a country, but more importantly as a continent.

President Buhari also stated that issues that impact one nation affect others, as seen by the fight against terrorist tyranny that has extended over the whole West African sub-region and is beginning to manifest in other countries in some sections of East and Central Africa.

The President said this at State House, Abuja, while granting audience to the Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development, Dr Sid Ould Tah.

President Buhari, who just on Tuesday in Nouakchott, Mauritania, received an award for Strengthening of the Peace in Africa from the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, told his visitor that his focus on agriculture and infrastructure has allowed Nigeria to be resilient during the last two global economic and public health crises.

He urged the Arab Bank for Economic Development to review the amount of capital it can inject into various economies, as this would lead to greater impact.

The Governor of Borno state Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, was also in attendance at the meeting with the visiting Director General of the Arab bank for Economic Development.

The governor who had interfaced with the Bank at its headquarters, thanked the President Buhari for ensuring improvement of security in the North East.

Dr Ould Tah said the Bank has a strong relationship with Nigeria, and would love to do more in the areas of wheat cultivation, gum Arabic, veterinary support services, women and youth development, among others

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele also accompanied the Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development.

This is the first time the Governor of the Central Bank will be seen in public after he returned from his annual leave, and also following controversial allegations of financing terrorism and corruption levelled against him by the department of state security service.
