The Nigerian Army has described as false, reports making the round that Boko Haram terrorists are in control of Damasak town.
A statement issued by the Director Army Public Relation Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima indicates that there was an attack by the terrorists yesterday on the town but they were effectively repelled by the troops.

The statement noted that troops are in full control of Damasak as seen in this video, where the Commander of 5 Brigade, Brig Gen SS Tilawan, is driving round the town to assess the general situation on the aftermath of the attack.

The Nigerian Army also assured residents of Damasak and adjoining communities to remain calm as mop operation by the troops are ongoing to flush out the remnant of the terrorists who attacked a section of the town.
