Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, as part of a minor reshuffle within the state’s executive cabinet.
The announcement was made early Monday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who stated that the change takes immediate effect.
“As part of a slight reconfiguration of the State Executive Council, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko has been relieved of her appointment as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development,” the statement read.
While no specific reason was given for her removal, the governor expressed appreciation for her service and wished her well in her future pursuits.

“Governor Bala Mohammed thanks the former commissioner for her contributions to the state and extends his best wishes as she moves on,” Gidado added.
Hajiya Baban-Takko was appointed commissioner on September 9, 2024, after previously serving as the caretaker chairperson of Bauchi Local Government Area, a position she assumed in July 2023.
Her removal comes amid broader administrative developments in the state, including the recent dismissal of two senior civil servants by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission over allegations of document forgery.
