Actress Laide Bakare has criticised some of her colleagues and fans for creating social media content shortly after the death of Nollywood star Allwell Ademola.
In a post shared on Instagram, Bakare said she found it disturbing that people were engaging in TikTok activities and accepting virtual gifts only hours after the actress’s passing.
She wrote that it was “sad” to see people turn to entertainment content so soon after the tragedy, adding that “God is watching everyone”. Bakare also expressed shock that even close friends of the late actress were “busy playing games and collecting gifts” online.
Her comments followed widespread tributes to Ademola, who died on 27 December, reportedly after suffering a heart attack at the age of 49.
Actor Alesh Sanni had earlier voiced similar concerns, questioning the sincerity of some condolence messages being shared online.
Ademola’s family has thanked the public for the outpouring of support and said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
