Preparations are under way for the African Union Public–Private Partnership (PPP) and Stakeholders Summit 2025, scheduled for 28–31 October in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Themed “Africa, The Global Powerhouse of the Future,” the high-level meeting is being organised by the Parliament for Africa in collaboration with the African Union Agenda 2063 Simulation. It will bring together former heads of state, AU commissioners, ambassadors, innovators, cultural leaders and institutional heads.

Convener Ambassador Dr Young Piero Omatseye said the summit builds on the unveiling of the Tourism Across Africa Project in Abuja on World Tourism Day 2025. Endorsed by Nigeria’s Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, the project seeks to showcase Africa’s heritage, strengthen cross-border collaboration and establish tourism as a key driver of growth.

Ahead of the summit, a continental expedition will travel from Nigeria to Ethiopia through several African countries, supported by strategic partners including Thuraya, Tsat Telecommunications and Zuma Coffee.

Delegates are expected to begin arriving in Addis Ababa on 27 October, where Ambassador Omatseye, AU officials and Ethiopia’s foreign minister will formally receive them.

Omatseye described the event as “a continental handshake between vision and execution, where Africa’s future is no longer imagined but engineered.”

Observers note that PPPs are increasingly driving projects in infrastructure, rural electrification, digital education, healthcare and entrepreneurship across Africa.

Analysts argue that such partnerships enable governments to pursue long-term goals while leveraging private-sector efficiency to create jobs and accelerate continental integration.

Organisers stress that the Addis Ababa summit is not just another conference but a statement of intent: “We are not building projects. We are building Africa.”
