As Nigerians and indeed governments at all levels marked democracy day, there were two spectacular events that took place in Adamawa State.

One was at Government House Banquet Hall where Governor Jibrila Bindow’s achievements were showcased.

The other was on the streets of the state capital Yola, where some angry APC members destroyed campaign billboards of Governor Bindow, and declared war on his second term ambition.

Gathered in the hall were members of a political group, Buhari/Osinbanjo Again, and some APC chieftains to mark this year’s Democracy Day.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was among the guests, as were other high-ranking politicians. Governor Bindow’s achievements were beamed in a recorded video clip.

But as the meeting was on, some youths from the All Progressives Congress, APC stormed major streets in Yola, and destroyed billboards which had Governor Bindow on them.

They accused the governor of planning to leave the party, and have vowed to resist his second term plans.

The polar events show the sharp divide in the APC in Adamawa, with one camp rooting for President Buhari to re-contest for the presidency in 2019, and the other allegedly backing Bindow at the state level, and Atiku Abubakar for the presidency.
