Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has laid the foundation of the new Ogun State Polytechnic at Ipokia, Ogun West Senatorial district.

The Governor said the state is set to meet the October/November target set by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

TVC News Ogun State Correspondent, Kazeem Olowe reports that it was a piece of news that brought joy to indigenes and residents of Ipokia and the entire Yewaland as their community will now host the state-owned Polytechnic.

This initiative of Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s government also led to the upgrading of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to a University of Science and Technology.

Speaking about the new polytechnic and the staff of the institution, Governor Ibikunle Amosun said the government will put up required lecture rooms for the take off of the institution and will not sack staff of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic who are automatically staff of the Ogun State Polytechnic.

He said those who want to work at the University would have to apply to the institution, noting that all existing courses at the old Polytechnic would be offered in the new one, as well as additional ones.

He appealed to stakeholders in the state to support the project and assist the government in building structures in the institution.

The Olu Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle on his part advised the Indigenes to be receptive and adjust their cultural festivals that cause crisis between Indigenes and students.

When completed, the Polytechnic will have the capacity to admit four thousand students and will have another campus at Imeko-Afon.

If The Olu Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle on his part advised the Indigenes to be receptive and adjust their cultural festivals, is going to better if the governor can cancel all there yeye oro festival or is there going delay or its good to be hearing that because of oro no school, that should be what governor is going to take another step on.
