The Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the February 21 Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, Mr. Eze Chukwu, has accepted the outcome of the poll and declared that he will not head to court to challenge the result.

Chukwu conveyed his position in a congratulatory message to the declared winner, Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the announcement of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, the APGA candidate made it clear that his decision was final.

He said he would not contest the outcome “for any reason whatsoever,” noting that elections are about service, not personal ambition.

Rather than dwell on defeat, Chukwu described the conduct of the election as peaceful and orderly, pointing to the calm atmosphere during both the campaign period and election day.

He said the security situation and orderly process recorded throughout the exercise amounted to “a victory for democracy.”

According to him, although APGA did not secure the chairmanship seat, elections remain a vehicle for service, and service, he stressed, cannot be imposed.

Chukwu, who is also the APGA National Youth Leader and Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN), urged any aggrieved stakeholders to pursue redress strictly through lawful channels.

He pledged to support initiatives that would contribute to the success of the incoming administration and congratulated Maikalangu on his victory.

The former candidate further advised the APC chairman-elect to be magnanimous in triumph by governing with humility and inclusiveness.

According to him, AMAC belongs to all residents, regardless of political, ethnic or religious affiliations, and governance must reflect fairness, unity and commitment to the common good.

Chukwu thanked his supporters for what he described as a principled and disciplined campaign, stressing that while elections are contests of ideas, character is ultimately measured by conduct throughout the democratic process.

He called on citizens to remain actively engaged in civic affairs, emphasizing that national development thrives on participation rather than apathy.

Reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment, good governance and community development, Chukwu noted that service to society extends beyond occupying public office.

He also applauded AMAC residents for their peaceful conduct and prayed for sustained progress in the council.
