The federal high court sitting in Abuja has adjourned to the 13th and 17th of January 2020 for continuation of trial and hearing of the bail variation filed by the former chairman of the pension reform task team, Abdulrasheed Maina.

At the resumed sitting trial Judge Justice Okon Abang informed the court he was ready to hear the bail variation and continue with the trial.

In his response, the prosecutor told the court he was just served with further affidavits by the defense counsel as a response to the counter affidavits he had filed opposing the bail variation and would need time to respond.

Justice Abang held that in the interest of Fair hearing it will be right to adjourn the case.

He adjourned the matter to 13th,14th,15th,16th and 17th January 2020.

Justice Okon Abang had on 25th November admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of 1billion naira.

He also ordered Mr. Maina to produce two sureties who must be serving senators.

The two lawmakers, according to the judge, must not be standing any criminal trial in any court in the country.

Justice Abang held that the two sureties, who must be prepared for a N500m bond each, must always be in court with the defendant at each adjourned date.

The court had earlier adjourned on 17th December to 18th December to attend to official administrative duties.

Mr Maina is facing a 12 count charge on money laundering brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
