The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has expressed that the state is strengthening its security partnership with the Nigerian Navy while receiving the new Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Ibbas, in Uyo.
Governor Eno stressed that the state’s priority in protecting the state’s critical national assets.
The Governor commended the Navy’s role in safeguarding coastal communities and urged deeper collaboration, pointing out that Akwa Ibom has the longest coastline in Nigeria and West Africa.

He said the state needs a stronger naval presence to tackle maritime threats and secure oil and gas infrastructure.
For Vice Admiral Idi Ibbas, the visit was both courtesy and mission. He described Akwa Ibom as “strategic to Nigeria’s economy,” with assets that must be fully secured as he begins his operational tour.
Both leaders say the partnership will expand to protect lives, property, and the energy resources that power the nation.
