Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase unveils 10-point agenda if elected Speaker

The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and member-elect, Ahmed Idris Wase, has unveiled a 10-point agenda to drive the next parliament, if elected the next Speaker.

At his formal declaration, six other aspirants promised to work with Ahmed Wase to produce a formidable personality for the top seat of the 10th House.

Days after their joint visit to the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, aspirants in the Speakership race to the 10th House of Representatives are not backing down.

Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris, formally declares his ambition to vie for the exalted office of Mr Speaker.

He lists 10 areas of focus.

These include general orientation and image rebranding, efficient and innovative parliament as well as strong legislative oversight.

It was a moment of solidarity as six other aspirants made appearances.

They say their resolve is to field one of them as a formidable force that cannot be defeated

Support also comes from other quarters.

Social welfare, fiscal discipline, security, law and order as well as nation buikding, a joint task are also among Ahmed Wase’s vision for the next House of Representatives if elected Speaker.
