The federal government says Ahmad Gumi, the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, has been invited for questioning over his comments on the activities of bandits in the country.
Mohammed Idris, minister of information and orientation, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the State House, Abuja after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
Mr Gumi has gained prominence for his comments on the activities of bandits in recent years with many seeing him at best as an apologist or even a collaborator and facilitator.
He has been pictured with some bandits on many occasions with some of his associates and a well known spokesman for him, Kaduna based Publisher, Tukur Mamu, now in DSS Custody on trial for being a Terrorist financier.
The cleric reportedly offered to dialogue with bandits who abducted students from the Government Secondary and LEA Primary schools, in the Kuriga community under Chikun LGA in Kaduna.
The bandits attacked the community on March 7 and took away 137 schoolchildren and a teacher who died in the custody of the bandits.
