Agriculture practitioners want government to further support the growth of the sector to enable them achieve price stability and food security.

Speaking at the inauguration of some locally made agricultural products in Lagos, they identified the drop in export proceeds, multiple taxation and unfavorable policies as some of the challenges impeding growth of the sector

The role agriculture has played in Nigeria’s economy cannot be overemphasized. Little wonder agriculture has been regarded as the most viable route with which Nigeria can move away from her current woes.

The federal government and private sector players have been working tirelessly in promoting the role farmers play towards achieving sustainable food security.

Though a very challenged sector, Private sector players are not resting on their oars as they continue to remain innovative and competitive in the farm products market.

Collin Onyeagu is the chairman of pally agro group, he has been in the agriculture business for sometime and he says his determination to support Nigeria in achieving food security remains paramount.

Getting the agricultural system back to its best will speed up the reduction of poverty and rapidly improve the economy.

Players in the sector want more commitment from government and relevant agencies to enable them achieve food security and make the necessary impact in the economy.
