Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed the immediate rehabilitation of the Olaiya Bridge in Osogbo over concerns about its deteriorating condition ahead of the commissioning of the newly completed Okefia Flyover Bridge.
According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke gave the directive during an inspection visit to the bridge, where he ordered the Ministry of Works to commence urgent repairs and restore the facility to a proper condition.
He further instructed the ministry to assess the structural status of the bridge, clean the surroundings, address any identified defects and ensure the facility complements the newly constructed Okefia and Lameco flyover bridges.
“The Ministry of Works should immediately act on this Olaiya Bridge. Let us clean it up. It is a state asset. We must ensure its proper maintenance. This should be done before we commission the Okefia Bridge,” the governor said.
He stressed that government is a continuum, noting that his administration remains committed to completing inherited projects while maintaining infrastructure delivered by previous governments.

“I believe government is a continuum. All inherited projects are being completed by our government and all completed projects by the previous administrations must be appropriately maintained,” Adeleke added.
The directive comes as the Osun State Government intensifies preparations for the commissioning of the Okefia Flyover Bridge, one of the major infrastructure projects undertaken by the Adeleke administration.
