Adamawa govt. insists on closing remaining IDP camps

The Adamawa State Government has vowed not to go back on its decision to shut the two existing Internal Displaced Persons camps in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Hon. Ahmad Sajoh dropped the hint at Malkohi IDP camp at the distribution of learning aids by the Nigerian military authority.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, represented by Brigadier General Abdullahi Muhammed of the 23rd Armour Brigade Yola said the military is concerned about the condition of learning confronting displaced pupils in acquiring knowledge.

According to him, the army will continue to support them as part of its social responsibility.

Adamawa State cordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Sa’ad Bello thanked the army for the gesture.

He noted that the seven IDP camps have been collapsed in the state leading to reduction in the numbers of IDPs in the two remaining camps.
Sajoh who stood in for Governor Jibrilla Bindow stated the intention of the state government to collapsed the remaining two official IDP camps in the state, stressing that it was to enable them return to their ancestral homes.

The IDPs’ chairman  thanked the military and state government for their various assistance.

Highlights of the ceremony were the distribution of the learning materials and inspection of the classrooms by the army boss in the state.
