Governor of Abia state Okezie Ikpeazu says rebuilding the state must involve all critical stakeholders and the entire Abians irrespective of political leanings and ethnicity.
Ikpeazu, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum, urged Abians to support his administration and other well-meaning citizens in their efforts to restore the state for the benefit of all.
Governor Ikpeazu made the call while speaking at a special thanksgiving ceremony commemorating the 31st anniversary of the founding of Abia State at St. Stephen’s Anglican Cathedral in Umuahia, the state capital.
He expressed his deep gratitude to God for the state’s current state of peace and security, and also described peace and security as his greatest achievements over the last seven years in office.
The governor used the occasion to notify the people of Aba that, by the end of December, he would have opened the Aba Garment Factory, making the state’s two new businesses under his administration—the other being the Enyimba Automated Shoe Company (ENASCO).
The Abia governor also informed the congregation that he would be remembered as the governor that provided the state with a 30 Year Long Term Development Plan, Osisioma Interchange, Master Plan for Aba,Umuahia and Ohafia among other projects when he leaves office.
He stated that the government could not have succeeded without the church’s persistent prayers and urged it not to give up.
Ikpeazu also stated that at 31 years, he has ample reason to thank God for his abundant blessings on Abia State, for which he is eternally grateful.
As a result, he underlined that he will not be deterred from his mission of rebuilding Abia State for economic and infrastructure grandeur.
