A Youth group, Anioma Youth Mandate has called on the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and the lawmakers to ensure that the election ushers in a leadership that will deepen National unity and cohesion in the country.

The call was made by the group on Sunday in Asaba, Delta state, during a meeting of its national executives.

The group insisted that serious concerns and actions should be put in place at all times by political actors towards ensuring that all parts of the country are assuaged by carrying everybody along especially now that various and diverse ethnic Nationalities are visibly losing confidence and trust among themselves.

In a press statement released and signed by its National President, Nnamdi Ofonye, the group stressed that in as much as the ruling APC and PDP might want to outsmart each other, the paramount thing should center on the caliber of people they put forward and how their emergence will not only ensure that pro masses and positive laws are made but all sections of the country feel satisfied.

The statement read in part, “We have keenly followed the drama as it concerns who will occupy the various leadership positions of both chambers. While we agree that it is the prerogative of the elected lawmakers with the guidance of their political parties to determine who leads both arms of the National assembly, we as youths and critical stakeholders are not taking sides neither are we going to endorse any of the aspirants.

“Our major concern is to see that at the end, all sections of the country have a sense of belonging and satisfaction.

We want the lawmakers to put National interest far and above any ethnic, social, religious, political and primordial sentiments”.

The group however appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately after the emergence of the NASS leadership send names of his next cabinet members to the National Assembly for appropriate actions that will enable the commencement of full blown activities of his next level Government, stressing that Nigerians will not have the patience to wait for as long as they did in his first term.

Meanwhile, the group have appealed to the President to nominate one of the illustrious sons of Anioma for the Delta state ministerial slot.
