The National President of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Lekan Olubodun, and the National Vice President on Inter Campus and Gender Affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinbodunse Felicia Sileola, have jointly commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for endorsing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as his successor and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State.

In a statement signed by both student leaders, they praised the Governor’s ability to unveil his preferred successor at this critical time, describing the move as a bold show of leadership and foresight.

They noted that the decision clearly demonstrates Governor Abiodun’s love and passion for equality, equity and fairness in the political space of Ogun State.

The statement described the endorsement as historical, stressing that Ogun West would finally break the jinx of not producing a governor for five decades since the creation of the state. For the student bodies, the Governor’s action has corrected a long-standing political imbalance that denied the senatorial district a shot at the state’s top job.

Olubodun and Sileola further stated that Governor Abiodun has achieved what his predecessors failed to do despite years of agitation from Ogun West. They maintained that with this singular act, the Governor will surely go down in history as a selfless and truly patriotic leader in the annals of the state.

The student leaders added that with Adeola as the unanimously endorsed governorship candidate of Ogun APC, the contest for the number one seat will surely be a walkover for the ruling party in 2027. They argued that the opposition parties are almost comatose and lack the structure or appeal to mount any serious challenge.

While congratulating Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola on his endorsement, the statement urged him to carry everyone in the party along and embrace all stakeholders across the state. They advised the Senator to follow the footsteps of Governor Abiodun’s inclusive governance model.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the support of Ogun State students for the Governor’s decision, expressing confidence that Adeola’s emergence would usher in continuity, stability, and equity in the Gateway State.
