The Delta State Government has commenced the process of rebuilding Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, which was destroyed following the killing of 17 Army personnel in March.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced this while hosting the leadership of Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers and the Urhobo Progress Union Worldwide at Government House, Asaba
It been over four months after the killing of military personnel in Okuama and the state government has awarded contracts to rebuild the community.
The traditional rulers who visited the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Ewu Urhobo where the natives were relocated two months ago have now joined calls for the people to return to their ancestral home.
Governor Oborevwori in his response assured them that his administration is committed to resettling the people of Okuama and enhancing security across the state.
In a separate meeting, Governor Oborevwori received the President and Chairman of the Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and her team.
Governor Oborovwori announced that the state has domesticated the Engineering Regulations Monitoring Programme to ensure quality of job delivery is enhanced in the state.
The president of Nigerian Society of Engineers said they were in the state for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the society.
