The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has been described as a Political movement that will change the direction of things in the State.
Former Governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume, made this disclosure while speaking on the developments within the party in the State following the conclusion of its governorship primary after initial cancellation by the Courts.
Mr Akume said the Reverend Father who won at all points during the battle for the governorship ticket of the party in Benue State is a Political movement.
The former Benue Governor said the co-contestants of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, have been working with him since the conclusion of the governorship primary after the verdict of the Court of Appeal cancelling its earlier primary.
Mr Akume disclosed that the party’s governorship candidate in Benue State is not the first time a Reverend father will be leading or seeking to lead Benue State with the First being a former Governor, Reverend Father Moses Adasu, between 1991-1993.
He described the tenure of the former Governor, Reverend Moses Adasu as a very impactful one in the history of Benue State.
He disclosed that the recently concluded governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State was a direct primary because the party wanted a candidate who will have a far broader support than from a delegate election.
He added that this will help in broadening his acceptability to residents of Benue State with the All Progressives Congress having been in opposition for 4 years now.
According to Mr Akume, the decision to hold direct governorship primary was also as a result of a request from the people of the State after a stakeholders meeting.
He however said a case against the candidacy of the Benue State APC Governorship candidate, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, still remains in the Supreme Court while all Other matters have been resolved with former contestants now involved actively in his campaign.
He described the current State of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State as that of being good to go and ready.
According to Mr Akume, the greatest fear of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State is the candidacy of Father Hyacinth Alia for the Benue State Governorship.
He said this is why some people have been sponsored by the current administration in Benue State to ensure he loses out in the bid for the Governorship of Benue State.
He said his Statement about some fifth columnists being funded by the Benue State Government because of the fear of a big loss for the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State.
He described the Peoples Democratic Party as a hopelessly divided party in Benue State.
He expressed Confidence that the All Progressives Congress will win the Benue State governorship in March.
On what the All Progressives Congress’s Governorship Candidate, Father Hyacinth Alia will do to develop the State if he wins, Mr Akume said the first step will be to work to return the people of Benue to work with food production a very strong point for the people which has suffered in the last 6 years.
He added that farmers have lacked the necessary government support to take food production in the State to the desired level.
The Former Benue State Governor said Father Alia will also ensure a return to regular payment of Salaries and pensions including revamping the State’s health Sector which has suffered neglect for over 6 years now.
He also listed issues such as the development of rural areas with rural water and electrification to ensure that food production and farming activities can continue to go on without hindrance.
He added the Benue APC Governorship candidate has a big package for the people of the State.
On the dangers posed by the various Court cases against the Governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State to its participation in the Governorship Election, Mr Akume said it is the wishful thinking of the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party.
