2023: SDP visible enough, capable and experienced-Shehu Gaban

2023: SDP visible enough, capable and experienced-Gaban

National Chairman, Social Democracy Party (SDP) AlhajI Shehu Gaban says as the 2023 elections gets closer, campaigns are getting hotter and also getting personal.

Mr Gaban said Candidates are not addressing fundamental issues that are affecting the life of Nigerians.

With the current situation that we are, people should deal with issues that have affected the lives of Nigerians, instead they are attacking personalities.

Security, the economy, poverty, debt, educational policy collapse, and the health care sector are key fundamentals that drive every country on Earth.

Instead of dealing with policy challenges, such as how to rejuggle policies that have feathered out and be creative and imaginative in dealing with them, the political actors in the field are mostly concerned with attacking one another’s personalities and historical histories which
doesn’t make sense to any serious career politician and therefore heating up the political space.

Mr Gaban stated that its Presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo has been on issues of security, economy, health sector, agricultural sector, educational sector which are fundamental to the future of Nigeria.

The SDP National Chairman  added that more intrigues will be seen as it is going to be more hotter in the next two to three weeks.

He noted that its campaign has been more issue based, creating jobs, issue of very weak security apparatus that we have, lack of equipment, issue of developing the economy.

“An economy cannot develop when the political environment is very chaotic. You can only develop economy when the local environment is very friendly for investors to come in, for domestic investors also to invest their money and create jobs.

“In an environment where people are not feeling safe, they cannot invest their money because the issue of safety is very fundamental to any political economy or creating jobs, or inviting investors or attracting foreign capital into your own country.

“You cannot discuss anything without bringing in solution on how to restore law and order in our country, how to do away with crime and criminalities, banditry, how to deal with issues of producing orphans and widows virtually on a daily basis, how to deal with issues of taking away wiping out villages and the food stuff across the length and breadth of Nigeria and the political assassinations that are also engulfing the country right now.

“These are issues including the issue of vote buying, which is the fundamental threat to our democracy more than any other thing.

Speaking on visibility of the party, SDP, Mr Gaban stated that he is well informed and aware of processes of party development.

He added that SDP is visible enough in terms of its logo, political structure, participation in all INEC exercises and requirements.

” We filled the candidate from the president to the state assembly. It is also on INEC record. We comply with the electoral act from the congresses of our parties, from the ward, local government, states, and the national level. We also held our convention at international conference center which was covered by all the media organisations.

“Our primaries was conducted very transparently, we had no dispute at all.

“And there is no presidential candidate today, that has been a media more than our presidential candidate, engaging various segments of issues that have to deal with our society.

“SDP is capable, we are experienced, we know how to play the game decently, morally and progressively.
