President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the European Commission that the humanitarian challenges in the north east will soon be over, though he admits that this may take a little longer than anticipated
He gave the assurance while receiving the European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic at the State House on Friday.
The President added that if Nigeria is capable of recovering from a 30-month civil war, then re-organising and quelling the tension in the northeast is achievable.
In his words… “Our priorities in the next level is to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons, are rehabilitated so that livelihood should be established and the children should not lose the opportunity to go back to school.”
On his part the EU commissioner applauded the government’s efforts in Borno state, but he is seeking a development plan between Nigeria and the EU to fast track the level of development in the north east.
