The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has filed a petition at the election tribunal challenging the outcome of the recent governorship election in which its candidate, Jibrilla Bindow, lost to the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP’s), Ahmadu Fintiri.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after submitting the petition at the tribunal, the state APC organizing Secretary, Ahmed Lawal, said the party
has formally lodged its complaint and is seeking justice.
He explained that the party wants the tribunal to declare APC as the authentic winner of the March 2019 governorship election in the state, or for a fresh governorship election to be conducted.

Mr Lawal alleged that election in eleven local councils was marked with irregularities ranging from over voting, non use of smart card readers and
violence. He also alleged that some of the party’s supporters were intimidated and disenfranchised during the voting.
The organising secretary says though Governor Bindow refused to seek redress, the party has decided to petition the tribunal.
He expressed confidence in the impartiality of the Tribunal, insisting that APC will get justice with the evidence at the party’s disposal.
