The Nigerian Navy has again issued a warning to perpetrators of maritime crime to desist or be severely punished.
Commanding officer, Captain Adamu Yahaya read the riot act in Egweama, Bayelsa State at the official hand-over of a Barge Podium containing a large quantity of suspected illegally refined diesel.
Ovieteme George reports that combing the creeks of Bayelsa and other states of the Niger Delta is a
routine exercise of the Nigerian Navy.
The forward operating base “FORMOSO” in Egweama said it intercepted this Barge Podium at a creek in Alaki of River State.
With the crew at large Captain Adamu Yahaya hands over the keys to Senior Detective Superintendent Abdullahi Musa Rege of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Office in Port Harcourt.
The Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to purging the creeks at the Niger Delta of crude oil thieves, sea pirates, kidnapping and sundry crimes.
