Yobe state Governor, Ibrahim Geidam has presented 24 Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Army and vigilante group to help it in its counter insurgency operations and war against other criminal elements in the state and beyond.
Correspondent, Michael Oshomah reports that the 24 Toyota Hilux vehicles bring to more 300 operational vehicles presented to various security agencies by the Yobe state government in the fight against Boko Haram.
The 24 vehicles were displayed during the presentation with the Governor announcing twenty for the Nigeria Army while four are to be given to the Vigilante Group in the state.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam while presenting the vehicles to the security chief said his administration will continue to partner with other security operatives in wiping out Boko Haram insurgents and other criminals operating in the state and beyond.
For the Vigilante Group, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam commended their cordiality with security operatives in restoring peace in the troubled north east.
Receiving the operational vehicles, Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen. Tukur Buratai thanked the state governor for his untiring efforts in supporting the Nigeria Army and other security operatives in the state and assured that the vehicles will be used in the right way.
The Chief of Army staff then presented the Hilux vehicles to the Theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Nicolas Rogers for onward distribution to the various army formations that need them across the state.
