Southern elders reject sale of national assets

Senate rejects proposed sale of national Assets

Image result for sale of national assetsAll members of the National Assembly and their state assembly counterparts from the southern part of Nigeria have been charged to initiate legislation that will reject the National grazing bill being muted by the Federal Government.

Leaders of  southern Nigeria also rejected among other things plans or calls on the Federal Government to sell major National assets of the country.

This was part of the resolutions reached and contained in a communique issued at the end of a two day meeting by the expanded Elders/ Management committee of the Southern Peoples Assembly held in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, south east Nigeria.

During the meeting, the leaders of the 3 Geopolitical zones that made up the southern Nigeria deliberated on several issues affecting the region of the country in particular and Nigeria at large which touched on all sectors of the Nigerian economy including militancy in the Niger Delta, the Menace of Fulani herdsmen, Growing agitation of Biafra, anti corruption war of the Government, the present economic recession and the free fall of the value of Naira among others.

While declaring total support for the anti-corruption fight of the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari they called on him to respect all court verdicts relating to the ordered release of Nnamdi Kanu and others still held in detention across the country.

Earlier, addressing the delegates Governor Okezie Ikpeazu called for a stronger unity amongst the zones of the region to enable it achieve and correct some age long issues negatively affecting them.
