Zamfara State Government has threatened to shutdown tax defaulting Organisations in the state. The Organisations according to the Government are owing taxes between the year 2018 and 2023.

Addressing Newsmen in Gusau, the acting Chairman, Zamfara State Internal revenue service, Shehu Gummi says the agency has followed due process in serving non compliance notices to the affected Organisations

Some of the defaulting Organisations are NNPCL Gusau Depot, Globacom Nigeria, Gusau office, First Bank of Nigeria Gusau, Zenith Bank Gusau and Guarantee Trust Bank Gusau among others

The Government according to Shehu Gummi says it has tolarated the companies for too long and are only making fake promises

He noted that the steps taken so far by the agency is Constitutional and within the ambits of the tax Laws

The Zamfara state Internal Revenue Service adds that it will seek court order at the end of the termination of notices to shutdown any of the defaulting Organisation to recover it’s revenue.

“We met with officials of NNPCL Gusau Depot, Globacom Nigeria, Gusau office, First Bank of Nigeria Gusau, Zenith Bank Gusau and Guarantee Trust Bank Gusau and discussed extensively with them on ways to settle the debts amicably,, but to not avail” Gummi Said.

” Some of the Companies had made promises several time, but failed to fulfill it” he added.

“Their ailure to comply with the early arrangements is what prompted this action to serve them with non compliance notice for the third time, after the first and second earlier served” Gummi explained.

” Zamfara state Government will not hesitate to do all within its constitutional powers to ensure it recovers the Revenue owed by these companies”

Mr. Shehu Dan-Dare Gummi also appealed to Residents and cooperate organisations in Zamfara to ensure timely payment of their taxes to avoid Government sanctions.

The operation was led by a director in the agency, Mu’azu Ibrahim and was conducted smoothly without hitches.

The defaulting Organisation includes Commercial Banks, Oil companies among others.
