Zamfara Anti-Thuggery Team, NDLEA make arrests in Gusau

The Zamfara State Anti- Thuggery Committee has, in Collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arrested three Persons involved in Illicit Drug Consumption and Thuggery.

They were arrested in Sambo Secondary School, one of the oldest public secondary schools in Gusau

The Committee also says it will not tolerate any form of political violence, thuggery and Continued sale and Consumption of Illicit drugs in the state

Experts have Confirmed a nexus between drugs and banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other types of violent crimes in Nigeria, especially in the Northern region

Insecurity is clearly one of the key challenges facing the country and Illicit drug Consumption contributes to it’s spread

The Zamfara State Anti-thuggery Committee was set up by the Matawalle administration to assist relevant agencies in addressing Thuggery and Illicit Drug Consumption

The Committee, in Collaboration with NDLEA, swarmed the Sambo Secondary in Gusau and arrested three youths involved in Illicit Drug Consumption

This followed complaint by the school authorities and surrounding Communities over the continued use of the school for drug peddling and the vandalisation of properties

“We have been receiving Information that drug peddlers are patronizing Sambo Secondary School Gusau and are using the place as their Hideouts when ever they perpetrate evil” Bakyaswa.

“This Committee will do it’s best alongside other agencies to ensure that the purpose of which this school was set is achieved. It is a learning centre not spot for hard drug dealers and consumers” he added

” My Committee decided to collaborate with the NDLEA to address this problem because they are Empowered constitutionally to arrest persons involved in such act”

The Chairman of the Committee Bello Bakyaswa insists his team will not relent in their efforts to make Zamfara a drug free state

“We will track illicit drug peddlers wherever they are in this state, because we will go to all nooks and crannies of the state and fish them out” Bakyaswa

The principal Sambo Secondary School, Gusau noted that the Criminals had used the school as their hideout from which they went about their evil activities, especially at night

He adds that Communities surrounding the school such as Sha’iskawa, Yar Hanya, Filin Girgi and Samaru are also not left out as those boys are disturbing their Peace.

“Sambo Secondary School has become their camp when ever they commit their evil acts they come here and hide”

” The affected Communities are also worried about this Negative Development, but can’t help their self”

“I personally wrote to all security agencies, thank God we have started making progress”

He told TVC News that the drug peddlers and consumers are also vandalising some of the school properties such as Classroom windows, roofing Zinc, Doors among other things

Musa Yahaya appeal to parents and Guardians to call their children and wards to other as the school is meant for learning not as smoking jangle.

The Zamfara anti Thuggery Committee led by its Chairman Bello Bakyaswa had in the last few days visited other security agencies in its quest to tackle the Menace of Thuggery and Illicit Drug Consumption

The committee also promised to go after Distributors and those who engage and encourage illicit drugs Consumption in the state.
