Additional troops and equipment of the Nigerian Air Force have arrived in Sokoto for deployment to troubled areas in the state.

This is in fulfillment of the promise made by the Chief of the Air Staff, Sadiq Abubakar, when he visited the 119 Forward Operation Base, Sokoto state, last December.

The 119 Forward Operation Base received  fighter jets, surveillance aircraft, military hardware as well as the deployment of additional Airmen to support the war against bandits.

The troops are expected to ensure better coordination of the war against armed banditry through provision of tactical and operational support.

The upsurge  in the activities of  armed bandits in the north west region of Nigeria has  resulted in the death  of many persons and created huge humanitarian challenges.

And despite the effort of the security agencies, the bandits continue wrecking havoc unchecked on many communities in the region.

Twenty six persons were killed in a recent attack in three communities of Warwanna,  Kursa and Dutsee at Gandi district in Rabba local government area of Sokoto state.

For the citizens of Sokoto East Senatorial district who had been terrorised in the past,  the deployment of the airmen and their equipment may restore the confidence of the people in the competence of of security agents
