The Value Chain Development Programme in Nasarawa State has distributed farm inputs to Forty-Eight Farmer Organisations across three local governments of the state to boost crop production during dry season.

The Programme is a joint effort of the State Government, Federal Government and the International Fund For Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Boosting the Production, Processing and Distribution of Rice and Cassava has been the policy thrust of the Value Chain Development Programme in Nigeria.

The programme has been operating in Nasarawa State in the last four years and has been helped farmers achieve quality outputs through various interventions.

These inputs are part of efforts of the Value Chain Development Programmes in Nasarawa State but this time, it’s giving a boost to dry season farming.

Over 730 bags of fertilizers, 6150kg of improved rice seeds ,246 litres of selective and nonselective herbicide are being distributed to 48 farmers organizations in Karu, Nasarawa and Doma Local Government Areas of the state.

This is aimed at boosting crop production, processing and distribution which is in line with the federal government’s drive on food security.

The Nasarawa State Government recognises the importance of the activities of farmers in the country and it’s committed to giving them the needed support.

The inputs would serve as a veritable tool in achieving good harvests for the beneficiaries.

The proper utilisation of the farm inputs would translate to a reduction in the high cost of food prices and curb hunger in the country.
