The governors of Taraba, Bayelsa, Abia, Kano and Bauchi have been appreciated by the Vanguard newspapers for transforming their states. Darius Ishaku, Seriake Dickson, Okezie Ikpeazu, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Mohammed Abubakar were each conferred with the Governors of the Year Award for 2017 at a ceremony in Lagos.
Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha also got Vanguard Personality of the year award for her positions on national issues.
Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi reports that former president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Gbenga Adefaye explained that the recipients were carefully selected according to specified standard.
A beneficiary, Governor Ishaku described his award as an impetus to serve better the people of Taraba State. He said his administration would not relent in improving the life of the
common man in Taraba state.
Governor Seriake Dickson also expressed determination to improve on human developmental projects.
Supporters of the beneficiaries were full of joy, commending Vanguard Newspaper for its sense of judgement.
The Vanguard Awards are held every year to celebrate professionals, public servants, and other persons who have made national impact.
