The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority is holding an emergency Security Committee meeting to address recent developments reported in the sector over the past few months.
Declaring the meeting open, the Director General of NCAA and Chairman of the NCASC, Capt. Chris Najomo, noted that the engagement would cover all aspects of the aviation ecosystem – from regulation, airline and airport security, to airspace management and the responsibilities of the travelling public, who, he stressed, have both rights and obligations.
Goodwill messages from the Senate and House Committees on Aviation, as well as the Nigerian Air Force, emphasized the need for discipline among passengers and airline staff to guarantee safety.
They also cautioned that the aviation sector has become increasingly sensitive, describing it as a “landmine” that must be carefully regulated.
Presentations during the meeting focused on issues such as unruly passenger behaviour, airport security, stakeholder collaboration, and the passenger perspective on adherence to aviation rules.
