The UN Assistant Secretary General on malnutrition, Gerda Verburg, disclosed this to our Correspondent, Moyo Thomas  in Abuja.

Gerda Verburg said Scaling Up Nutrition is a movement that takes stock of challenges and innovations towards reducing malnutrition across member countries.

Nigeria is one of the 61 members signed on to this initiative.

War and insurgency is a major obstacle to attaining nutrition, and this  has plagued Nigeria for 10years, working against the United Nations goal of achieving its agenda 2030 on Health and Nutrition,

Gerda Verburg said, she is holding talks with stakeholders in Nigeria to build the necessary political will to end the unrest in the country  as an end to insurgency will translate to a more virile economy.

Nutrition is the bedrock of all of the United Nations sustainable development goals as a well nourished child will reduce poverty and its attendant impacts.
